IMHO Anything that appears on UKF is utter w@nk. Dubstep aint dubstep anymore thanks to Skrillex, Borgore & Co.

The sooner this bubble for this shit bursts the better.

Sweet baby jesus, that Nero tune is me miserable at the moment. Goldie may have been an extra in Eastenders but he never stooped that low.

That said, having had a nose on Soundcloud I’m not convinced it’s an utterly worthless genre.

The term ‘Dubstep’ has come to cover a massive range of music. I’ll admit that I’m not so keen on a lot of newer stuff, but there are still some quality tunes being produced (the Flux remix posted by Deveron53 being one of them). Dubstep for me is more this sort of thing:

For the full Dubstep experience, it really needs to be played loud, on a proper set of speakers (so you can fully appreciate the sub bass), whilst you are severely medicated.

    Hi Jamz.
I put the Flux ‘Cracks’ on as I liked it but didn’t understand what the Dubstep genre was.
I must admit, I don’t really like most of the stuff posted on this thread! I think I’ve passed over the magical wall into ‘too old’ now…

Kind of sums up everything that’s wrong with the genre.

One of the few good artists IMO, but then again maybe not strictly dubstep.

It’s the sort of sound that can be heard when all the household appliances in the local currys come to life, after closing time, and get it on.

I think the ‘hardcore’ dubstep has spawned a newer, more commercial version. This happens in all musical genres. There was raw punk and there was commercial punk. There is extreme heavy metal and more commercial metal.

Another thing occurs to me. Apart from the ‘melody’ (not everything on here actually has a melody imo) there needs to be ‘depth’. A wall of sound with interconnecting levels, moving in harmony. ‘Cracks’ has it but I haven’t really heard this melodic depth in anything else yet. Perhaps Cracks is not really dubstep. Dunno. I like it though!

cant do dub step too slow and doesnt roll like dnb/jungle for my taste also doesnt seem to quite have the real depth of sub bass like some jungle etc

Skrillex is better when covered by a real band:

Or a guy with far too much time on his hands. All of the bass bits sounds like loads of burps. Brilliant!

Dubstep is over – step away from the genre, nothing to see here.

Justin Bieber has revealed he is experimenting with dubstep sounds for his brand new album.

The much loved (and hated) teen star said “I’m about halfway through [my album]. I’m experimenting. What’s big right now are beats that are in the clubs, like dubstep. So I want to mess with that stuff, but also stay me.”
