Looking to replace some 140 Pike Air forks on My Hemlock.
Considering Rockshox Rev Dual Air 150's (my favourite choice at mo), Magura Thor or Lyrik Coil U-Turns. Fox 36's look nice too but are very expensive!
Quite like the idea of adjustale 160 forks but not sure I would need that much travel and they are quite a bit heavier too. Also I wonder if longer forks would make the Hemlock more stable on Downhills?
i'd say the pike-air-140's are just about perfect already...
(the hemlock is very Dh friendly as it is, maybe try a shorter stem or something?)
Thor are improved for '10 and are much cheapness at On One
I've just ordered the Team Rev U-turns for my Hemlock to replace the Pike u-turns. Mostly to lose a bit of weight, but also because my mechanic wants the Pikes for one of his bikes...
Wee work of caution about the new Revs. Was at Learnie the other weekend and a pal fell sideways with his bike when he stalled at a rock feature. A sharp rock dented the lowers so much the fork is effectively fooked and new lowers are £225. Ross isn't a big heavy chap either. I guess they are light, but have they maybe gone too far? Fine if you don't crash or ride rocks I suppose.
The missus is about to stick 2010 revs on hers. (edit, she's said as much 2 posts up!)
Depends what you're using it for, but from my experience of riding Hemlocks, I'd far prefer a 160mm fork for extra stability/stiffness/slackness/rockeating ability. Or you could try the Revs with the K-nine offset headset cups if you have a 1.5" version as Cy's been using (see the Cotic News page)
Be using it for a bit of everything really from Chilterns/Cotswolds singletrack to trips to Peaks, Wales and the Alps. My current Pikes have been brilliant but the stanchions are getting very worn and marked plus it has seen a lot of action too!
Those Thors at On-One look a bargain but would not need the lockdown to 100mm thing. Hmm so much choice wondering if a 1.5inch version of forks is worth buying and if they would fit on the Hope 1.5 reducer headset I have?
