I wear large in North face stuff, it's a tighter fit than most of their gear, but in a pretty appropriate way - suspect their L is equivalent to most Euro brands XL.

stick with HH lifa - fieldandtrek have small black or s, m and l in olive green for £16 when I last looked in the sale section.

Best one I have used is an Arcteryx Phase. It is so lovely, and not too pricey (unlike the rest of the Arcteryx range)
