    In this weeks organic veg delivery we have a mystery veg, green swirly kind of cauliflower?

    Any ideas on what it is, and how I’m best to cook / deal with it? I thought I was pretty well versed in fruit & veg but this one is new to me..

    PS i know its Broccoli on the left,,,

    I’ve found it, and I’m almost ashamed to explain how because I think I just outgeeked myself. It’s romanesco.

    (I found it by googling “fibonacci vegetable”)

    Romanesco is delicious. Love it. Haven’t had it for years. There’s a good Podgy Cockney recipe for brocolli and romanesco canelloni. I tried ith with cauli and broc and it worked a treat so should be better with romanesco.

    What I like best about this joke is that the “B” doesn’t actually stand for anything, Mandelbrot made it up in order to sound more interesting. So, it’s entirely possible that it does stand for “Benoit B. Mandelbrot” and it was his private little joke.

    It’s a great looking veg. I’ll take some more pics before cooking it up. Dauphinoise potatoes won the family vote too..

    Now just need to dig out a bottle or two of red wine and I can officially call a start to the weekend.

    It tastes like a sort of light version of broccoli, I just thought it was a variety of it.

    Fruit & veg: if you add the mark out of 10 for looks to the marks out of 10 for flavour you always get 11.

    For the record, it didn’t taste very nice. Too much like cauliflower for me.

    Next time I get one I’ll sell it on the classifieds,,, £2.99 + postage. Must be some middle class foodies out there that would snap it up,
