After the death of the family cat we’re now looking for a new family pet and the children fancy a dog.

I seem to recall an article in STW on best dogs for riding with. I am looking for a medium sized dog that will also good with children.

Any recommendations?

Medium (ish) but amazing trail hound is the Hungarian Vizsla. Very gentle but goes all day. The guys at Bear Back Biking in Whistler had one when I was out there and it runs with the riders all day no issues.

Terrier cross types, even the littlies, all seem to have endless stamina too.
