Mol - I remember now! I was an IT Recruitment "consultant" (heavily abused word used in recruiting IMO) for a couple of years - it was booming at the time (1997-1999) then went travelling for six months, came back and it has died on it's ar5e! I still feel guilty for making good money from the y2K "bug!"

A diesel Mazda6.
And he's a top chap.
Keep telling him to get a bike but he's not bitten yet.Posted 1 year ago # -
Heh.. recruitment agents are a mixed bag. There are hoards of phone jockeys who call you up and ask if you have a, b, and c then send a big pile of CVs over. Then there are a very few who actually do their job properly and try and find the right person for their client.
And the Y2K bug was real, it's just that so much work was done on fixing it.
What do you do that makes you your own boss?

Mol - run a PR company with my wife.
TBH I did well in IT recruitment by actually bothering to learn the stuff I was "selling" - not actual coding but I spent a lot of time researching just so I knew I wasn't talking BS - if really helped and seems rare in the industry.
We hired all the contractors for the start up of Connect Austria (Orange in Austria) - that was a biggie. Plus a few banks, utilities companies, etc. It was good fun at the time and a good salary for a 22-24 year old.

Mine drives an Aston Martin DB9, previously a TVR Tuscan. But he still can't give me a pay rise over the last three years, or pay me £2k in overtime I accrued over 3 months last year...
Probably won't be able to afford to get it re-sprayed either then.
