  • What carbon forks?

Thinking I may give rigid a go for the winter.

Since the demise of the Pace RC31 what options do I have for carbon forks 440mm/100mm corrected?

Since I am a tart not sure I fancy on-ones.

Only reason not to get On-One is being a fashion victim.

They don’t break, they steer well, and they’re light enough.

The exotic carbon forks are even cheaper than On-One’s and handle my 90kgs fine

Very pleased with my Exotics, not that they’ve had a huge amount of use but they don’t get babied either. Light, cheap, and never heard of a set breaking (some people have had issues with the carbon steerer models though). Mine are the 29er ones for the geometry correction but a 445mm one is available, £85.

Some people are worried about buying cheap carbon I know but if you want the performance of the Exotics at a higher price you can buy the exact same fork branded up as Nukeproof or White Bros, at almost exactly twice the price 😉

Ragley/X-Lite ones aren’t far off, but not as far on as I’d like.

    Couple of months yet.

If you dont fancy on-one’s why would you fancy Ragley? Makes no sense…

You may be right, don’t know I haven’t seen them yet. Not sure rational thought and bike buying necessarily go hand in hand

It’s a totally different product though, under a different brand, so tartiness could still work. Especially if they come out under X-lite.

The new DT Swiss ones are some of the blingiest carbon I’ve seen on a bicycle. My mate has got them on a ti Salsa, and they look the absolute nuts. Not sure if they’re actually any good mind. Pretty spendy too.

I have RC31’s but if I was after some new forks I would get these Ritchey ones.

They are a bit pricey but do look lovely.

“PRO (shitmano) do a nice carbon fork in a cheapish metal crown/steerer or more expensive full carbon flavour.”

Looks like yet another Exotic-with-a-different-sticker, and at almost twice the price.

Any issues with buying carbon forks second hand? I guess it’s hard to tell if it’s crashed into a wall without showing any visible damage?

Good spot- you’re right, the Exotics all come with either Vs or IS mount, it’s the same fork but with a different foot on it. I hadn’t noticed 😳

Look closer again – the crown is different.

I doubt Shimano would ever badge-engineer a product.

Another vote for the exotics. Holding up to my 16 stone just fine.

Syncros are bringing out both 26″ and 29″ versions of this later this year. Not sure on price yet though.

Looks absolutely identical to mine. What are the differences?
