depends if you're going to continue riding smooth flat trails or not.

Easy, it'll even pedal similar: Whyte 146
Or my current fave (I haven't ridden the Whyte yet!): Transition Covert

The 146 looks pretty Awesome!
I took the Marin on an uplift day at cwmcarn and that was on the limit of it's capability.
Any more that 5 or 6 runs would have killed it!
Would the 146 be able toHandle ( the odd day 3 times a year) DH sess?
Are the Treks worth a look? Or am I down grading?Posted 1 year ago # -

Cannondale Jekyll or Claymore are the two new bikes I'm most interested in at the moment. I expect the luddites on here won't approve of them though.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm a luddite and approve of the Jekyll, in fact I'll be taking one for a testride as soon as it lands at my lbs

That Whyte would be top of my list, as I live around a lot of hilly trails.
You nearly killed a Wolf Ridge on Fox 36s???

thats the pro aint it essle?
Posted 1 year ago # -
That Transition looks fantastic. Thats going to be on my shopping list for my lottery win.

well keeping on this topic im not going to make a new topic as it pretty much is the same kinda topic.. if you get me lol anyway, i have demo`d a orange 5 AM i currently own a cannondale prophet 1 xc bike and the AM is amazing, its heavier but it can still get you up the hills and glides over the downhills as its 160mm trvl, im going to demo the alpine 160 next week and get a feel for that also, then ill have to choose which i like best so at the min i have my mind on them 2, has any of you guys rode both before? experiences? thanks

my lottery win.
Move over, I'm gonna win tonight..

Wow, thats weird...
Chippy, your bike is the spitting image of mine, with out the uppy downy seatpost it could be a picture of mine!!
Funnily enough I'm also considering a change for next year. Fancy a tracer VP and swapping over most of the kit on the Marin.

cotic hemlock = buckets of fun.

This is pretty good fun!Posted 1 year ago # -
I just can't seem to like the look of the Whyte bikes, no matter how much I squint
Posted 1 year ago # -
Just seen this and I gotta say I might sell both bikes to fund this as I'm quite liking going up hills aw well!

I took the Marin on an uplift day at cwmcarn and that was on the limit of it's capability.
Any more that 5 or 6 runs would have killed it!Try buying another set of wheels and mount DH tyres and big discs for uplifts, and then have a set of light kit for 'riding' days out?
Far cheaper than changing bikes.

new norco range looks like it's going to be a hit bike this year. getting some great reviews & looks great IMO.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I really dislike the bendy wendy tubes of Norco's. Looks like some Photoshop filter has been applied.
