Well, it's taken a little planning but tomorrow we're off to Cornwall to give LEJOG a go. Must say I'm a little apprehensive being a Mum of 3, traditional build and not awfully fit but accommodation booked and new saddle worn in. Riding unsupported until we reach Scotland so hopefully technicals will be few. Have been inspired by many on here that have done it so wish us luck. Had a break from the MTB stuff so far this year but, to all that know Cath and myself, we will return...

Cornwall is tough but it get's easier.
Just remember to lift your head up and take a look around you for this is a beautiful land that we live in.

Captain, route from the CTC, Youth Hostel route with a few tweaks, 14 days we hope! Downloaded onto Garmin not that I know anything about that machine, Cath does.

Enjoy it. TSY +1, Cornwall is lovely to look at but a pain to ride on the coast road... very pleased I did though.

They have shops in Cornwall and most other parts of the country.

We did bodge a rack on with zipties for a while though other than that you may need Assos cream and pain killers.

Just read your OP again.. unsupported until Scotland... you are likely to need a lot less than you think you will. Take the very minimum.. so chuck away one of your spare cycling kits.

Stay off the A roads, they're boring, really boring. Except the one down the Wye Valley... that was awesome. Ask locals for routes, try to follow their instructions, get lost and then ask someone else. Eat lots of cake. And always wear sunscreen.

Minimal packing here One Carradice bag and bum bag, very light for me :D, quite liberating really. Don't have ipod! I'm the wrong generation, however my chum is Twittering,

if anyone interested. She's downloaded the route onto GPS so in theory we won't get lost....

Well, we've reached the half-way stage! Can't believe it but we've cycled from Lands End to home in Skipton Had good weather so far and got fitter. It's been a beautiful ride through some lovely countryside.
So it's off to Carlisle tomorrow and on to Scotland....

Coincidentally a guy from our running club has just completed today, a week earlier than originally planned (did it in 15 days) and so is ridng 200 odd miles back to meet his missus.

Thanks, People of STW. A Swedish couple we met at Street YHA couldn't believe we were doing it as we are traditionally built girls! LOL we've have got faster along the way too! Weather not looking too good for next few days tho...

Well done TG , Stick at it . I guess you have a routine now that gets you through each day .
My next door but 1 neighbour left this morning for Cornwall, on a 14 day attempt . He was doing 100 milers as training so should be fine. His team were a man down due to a broken wrist . He didnt know i was a bicylist till today.
