A while ago I was asked to contribute to a new web site – database design and some SQL. Did it and never got paid but ended up taking over the site development because it looks like a potential money spinner. Learned enough to get it underway, then hit a barrier with forms. Just can’t seem to get them right. Are there any decent on-line or book resources the webheads on here can recommend?

    Cheers chaps

Is it the design or the coding you can’t get right. I assume it’s the coding and therefore what specifically are you having problems with?

I ask so that any advice can be more specific.

    Both
i can get a spreadsheetstyle layout but can’ts eem to get any design element to it. As there will be a few forms I don’t mind reading up, just as long as material is readable.
    It’s really a basic “how-to” that I’m after

My first port of call has always – darn, for more than a decade, thinking about it :/ – been html goodies.

Seems to have a great deal on forms having just done a search, maybe something there for you…

    Form design is painful!
While it won’t help you with the CSS this book/blog is good

Have a look at this http://www.javascript-coder.com/html-form/html-form-tutorial-p1.phtml and the other tutorials on the site for a guide to forms.

To style a from you can use any CSS property as you would for the rest of the site. Try this for some inspiration.
