I’m going abroad soon and would like to watch the iplayer and sky go.
How do I go about this, I think you need a vpn, but I’m not very tech savy.
    Any help would be great!

I sorted this for a friend who lived partly in the US, so he could watch iPlayer.

Its easiest with a mac / linux – set up SSH server on your home computer, a client on the device you are taking away. You set up a connection between the two using the -D flag (which sets up a proxy server) and a port number. Then go into your browser (firefox best for this) and enter the port number in the proxy section. What this does it set an encrypted connection between your two devices. And you use your home connection to connect to iplayer so it thinks you are at home.

This is probably able to so on windows, but i dont use it so i dont know. If all the above sounds like gobbeldygook then you could try using a proxy (search on the internet) however this is very unreliable simply because the bbc and sky can find the proxys as easily as you can, which means it is mostly not going to work.

Failing that torrent the shows you want.
