The only half decent VH track was Runnin’ With The Devil (IMO). I did go through a phase of liking them around the Jump/1984 era but much of their stuff doesn’t do much for me now.

Even though I am going through a phase of revisiting my youth with gigs (Kiss, Cult, Motorhead, Priest, Maiden etc etc) I can’t get any enthusiasm for them.

Hot For Teacher and Panama both sound great when the volume dial is round at 11.

Get into Black Oak Arkansas and see where DLR got his look from. Jim ‘dandy’ Mangrum .

I think all of their 1st album is worth having in the collection.Ted Templeman had a lovely prodution sound; check the debut Montrose album too. VH toured supporting Black Sabbath that year….what a line up that was! 2nd album was a let down and i never bothered since.

Saw Van Halen in 1978 at the Finsbury Park Rainbow for my first ever gig experience – probably one of the best gigs i have ever seen thru 30 years. Ticket cost £3.50! St Paradise supported (most of Ted Nugents band).
