Always.
Reason for doing this proved the other day. Out riding with some mates, one punctured. He removed tube and gave it to the other one, who found the hole and said it’s about a quarter of the way round from the valve. Of by this time the tyre had been removed from the rim and we had no idea where a quarter turn was. If had lined them up properly…
I’m sure the aligners here will balk at the knowledge that I not only don’t align, but I also have different types of valve in each wheel! Presta up front, Schrader in the back
(This is based on the available tube last time I had a puncture)
Always align valve with tyre logo and as someone else said the logo on the hub is in line with the valve hole.
Also before embarking on any ride always set off with both front and rear valves at top dead center! 😛

Yes not only for the puncture thing but it’s the little things like this that show some pride in your work. Like building a wheel so rim stickers read from the right hand side.
Same as Junkyard, I think. If I’m fitting new, do a neat job n line it all up. When refitting after a trailside repair, whack it on and get going quick as poss.
I do, handy if you puncture to find the hole and see if there’s anything sticking through it. And also because it really doesn’t take any effort at all.
