   Got a bit of a rim/tyre conundrum - wondered if any 355 owners can advise please.

   I'm thinking about getting some Hope Hoops with Stans 355 rims, but according to the wheel blurb on Hope's website, the max tyre width suggested is 2.1". Seems a bit strange as the slightly narrower 4.2 rim is listed as 2.0" - 2.3".

   FWIW, I'm currently running a pair of 4.2's on one bike (and Flows on another) - both tubeless, but find that 2.35" Nevegals can tend to get a bit unstable on the 4.2's when running lowish pressures. I'm really after a rim that, width-wise, sit between the 4.2 & Flow - but I don't want to get the 355's if they're no good for 2.3"-ish tyres.

   Can any 355 owners let me know how they get on with fatter tyres on these rims please.

   i run whatever tire i like on my 355's and never had a problem.
   currently got a HR 2.35 tubeless and although not massive are bigger than yo state above...
   i think they are fine wwith whatever fwiw

   Have a set of arch rims that are the same internal width and profile as the 355s and they happily run Racing Ralph 2.4s, which are seriously wide.

   Same as fatmut.
   Running a 2.35 H/R (tubeless) up front no problem whatsoever. 335's with Hope 2SP. Things of beauty and strength.

   Kind of on-topic but...

   I have some 2.35 Nev/Blue Grooves on Mavic 717s which are supposedly rated up to 2.3". They don't come up as wide or square as I was hoping - very rounded profile, the rear also feels a tiny bit wallowy. I'm thinking of getting some Flows, are they significantly wider that I'd notice a difference in the shape of the tyre?

   Jase_MK, that's exactly the reason I run Flow rims. They give a much wider and squarer, more stable profile to any tyre. I find on narrower rims, taking advantage of the pressures I can get away with on tubeless means to me, it feels like the tyre wants to roll off the rim or squirm too much in hard corners. The Flow is the best rim I could find in terms of balancing width and weight. They make a 2.1 feel like a 2.25 and the extra weight of the rim is still less than going up a tyre size would cost me.

   Bowglie, I think Stan's have released some new rims that might be worth a look. However, if you can feel the difference between the 4.2 and the Flow and don't like it, it doesn't really make sense to drop down to a Flow in my opinion.

   Jase_MK, I used to run a pair of Hope XC/Mavic 717 wheels (they're now now on my wifes bike ) My experience with Flow's is similar to Onzadog's, and IMO, if you're looking to increase your tyre stability, you'll love 'em - you'll get a very noticeable difference to the 717's.

   I treated myself to a pair of Hope Pro3's with Flows and put them on my 'rock muncher' bike - they're absolutely brilliant wheels - super stiff, strong, but still light enough not to dull the acceleration of the bike er....I'm talking myself into getting another set of Flow rimmed wheels here

   Onzadog, ta for the info re: the new Stans kit. Having thought about it, I think I might be better off with the Arch rather than 355 rim, just to have a bit more stiffness & longevity.
