Next weeks ‘Mean wave height and direction chart’ are giving near Tsunami conditions for Devon , Cornwall , Eire and Western Scotchland .
If the forcast is to be believed some beaches could see 20ft waves for a a few hours , pushed by storm force winds .
I will not be windsurfing in those conditions .

The footage from the guy in the car that got swept away was incredible, the brief view of the girl waist deep in water and debris, a look of utter bewilderment on her face, I think will stay with me for a long time.
We can’t comprehend, in this country, just how devastating nature can really be.
    A sobering programme.

Utterly awful to watch. For me they didn’t show enough of the post-Tsunami clear up and the utter scale of it.

What I thought was amazing was how calmly some of them were filming it…

    One of them was saying…

‘look at those foolish idiots, what are they doing, don’t they know it’s dangerous?’

I can’t believe they didn’t film that old woman surfing the roof to high ground.

Thye must have thought she was going to go under; I did. Lucky, lucky lady.

The car sailing around was astonishing, I wonder were it sailed to go so dark, so quickly.

The lad sat at the traffic lights in his car……then you see a truck sailing backwards across the screen infront. If that was me at that point I’d have filled my trousers.

Then there was the bloke who jumped out of his car and went back to shut the door!

I was amazed by the dignity and quiet understatement of the people interviewed.

Phrases like ‘at this point I realised all was not well’

as they watched what looked like the end of the world unfold in front of them.

I bet there’s a lot more building than floristering in his life at the moment.

I was suprised how few children were shown on high ground. They must have been around.

my thoughts too, i suspect a lot of them were at school and I know for sure if a Tsunami warning went out there’s no way on my life could i get mine from school in 22 minutes. I fear a lot of them will have perished and no doubt a lot of parents rushing to get them too. The only hope is whole families went together 🙁

I watched a programme like this a year or so ago about the thailand/boxing day tsunami. I just sat there shouting ‘RUN’ all the way through it.
There was a family being interviewed and they were using some of their video footage of them stood on the beach as all the water was drawn back out to sea. Then you could see the massive wave coming in and they were still stood there. With a tiny little todlar. I was in tears watching it. I had to turn it off at that point as I couldnt watch what happenned next, especially as the family looked devastated during the interview. I can only assume it didnt end well.

Just spoke with a customer with a view of the sea in Dorset, waves currently 4ft and due to build overnight, should be quite spectacular!

Mr Nutt . You need to look at this .-
    http://www.windfinder.com/forecasts/euwave_wave_height_direction_europe_northwest42.htm

The big swells will hit The Irish Sea through Tues / Wed . I see its been upgraded a little bit . The red zone is 10 meters or 30ft , but it wont reach that as the continental shelf that juts out into the Atlantic always reduces wave height .

For accurate windspeed Windguru is your friend clicky linky.-

    S’OK only GF8 – Storm F10 for the Gower ., you’ll be fine
