I've had this problem for a year now and was first diagnosed as an achilles tendonopathy – I now think it could have been a mis-diagnosis. With rest it seems to get slowly better but with any increased activity (walking, swimming, cycling) the pain increases. It's really getting me down as I just can't seem to shake it off and am currently inactive. I've seen 4 physios and a specialist Dr and have been prescribed orthotics to wear.

Any advice pleeeease. Also anyone had any success with acupuncture??

I have had success with acupuncture and it is very good for chronic pain relief – it is a treatment not a cure however and it has very poor evidence base in peer reviewed research.

I'd be going back to the doctors for further advice / diagnosis

    Why do you think it's a mis-diagnosis?

woody – because the doctor I saw recently pointed out that the majority of pain has not been in my achilles – it's in the nerves on the inside of my heel. I had mentioned this to at least two physios but they seemed so focused on the achilles tendon they didn't really take any notice. Achilles tendonopathies can generally handle non weight bearing activities such as cycling and swimming, whereas my condition is agravated by any repetitive movements…..
