My job is a bit of a bugger at the moment. I travel worldwide sometimes at the drop of a hat for up to 6 weeks at a time. Therefor my training suffers due to the irregularity that i can get on a bike.

I know that im going to take a hit on my technical skills ( they are rubbish anyway) but i have been looking for decent training programs that i can do to keep my legs strong.

I am based in hotels a lot and most have a half decent gym so i have been using the stationary bike and the rower mainly with an all over light weight program to keep everything strong.

What i lack though is a proper structure to my training. All i want to do is keep as much of the strength in my legs so that when i do get home i dont spend all my time hanging out.

    Ideas anyone??

burpees are good and can be done in your hotel room – doing a few sets of these will help improve power stamina and endurance in your legs.

I posted these the other day too…
    The Hindu squat:

The hindu press up (upper body)I did 30 of these on Thursday, my shoulders still ache !

    standard squats are also good

hold the squat position with thighs parrallel to the ground for 30 seconds, do 30 squats then hold for 20 seconds, do 20 squats then hold for 10 seconds then do 10 squats.

doing these combined with press ups, elevated press ups and some core exercises such as leg raises, v-sits, crunches, oblique sit ups etc will make a good work out – aim for about 30-40 mins then stretch for about 10-20 mins…. can all be done in a hotel room.

Running? At least you'll have strong legs and you can do it anywhere, anytime pretty much.

Excercise bikes aren't much of a substitute but better than nothing. Id look to try and stay fit in a general sense as that will help. Lots of cardio work so you can keep up on rides that are going to be longer than your average training session.

It's probably not much help but try and find something you enjoy, if it's a chore you'll put it off. For me it's swimming whenever I can't bike.

Yep as jonb says running all you need is a t-shirt, shorts and pair of trainers and of you go. Also a good way to see sights of where ever you.

yep i do a fair bit of running but i was looking for more leg strength exercises, routines so im not playing too much catch-up when i get home.

Great stuff so far, many thanks
