  • Tough/hard-wearing saddle reccomendations?

    Criteria:
    – Tough/hard-wearing
    – Cheap (pref <£20 but will pay more if worth it)
    – strength more important than weight

It’s for DH-only duties for my full-suss (I swap my dropper post off for DH weekends). I’ll rarely be sitting on it so comfort not the most important.

I managed to destroy the cover on my currently saddle in one weekend, purely through friction between saddle/grit/shorts – the edges are completely gone. Admittedly one day was particularly wet plus the grit on the Fort William track seems very abrasive, but I need something that’ll last.

    Any suggestions?

I’ve had several SDG Bel-Airs and not wrecked one yet. £20 is a cheap saddle though, maybe that’s the problem…not up to the job?

You can get a used Bel Air for that money though. 🙂

The saddle I destroyed was the standard Lapierre saddle (made by San Marco I think) that came on my Spicy. Probably not the most expensive one I guess.
