Third day now and its just as painful as the first day. I’ve not eaten either. I think it started by me biting my tongue however the painful ulcer is at the back of the tongue. I’ve taken ALOT of Difflam- anything else that I can try? (Ive also done the hot salty water/day 1)

    I don’t want a weekend of no alcohol/good food 🙁

    Salt? Whisky?
No idea if they work but that’s what my parent’s used to use on me when I had them as a child. Sounds like social services should have got involved in retrospect.

Yep, salt. 2 heaped teaspoons in a cup of warm water works well as a mouthwash.

    OralMedic. This stuff:

It will hurt more than putting a cigarette out on your bumhole, but oh so worth it for the sweet, sweet relief. 😛

Speaking as something of a mouth ulcer enthusiast, it is the only thing which actually works IMHO. Salt or any other product never worked on mine.

It comes in a cotton bud you have to snap like to glow stick, so you know it’s good.

I didn’t think you could get that in the UK anymore?!

(I’ve been buying it at huge cost from New Zealand by mail order – they call it Kenalog over there but it’s the same stuff/ only stuff that works for me)

Adcortyl in orabase is good stuff.

I have been using a product recently called “Iglu” and it is virtually the same.

It has a weird texture, but it works.

Don’t waste your money on anything else, salt will work quicker and more effectively than anything. Yes it hurts, but it’s worth the pain. Forget gargling too, just put it straight on the ulcer. I get a lot of ulcers on the gumline and salt is the only thing I use, hurts like buggery but stick it on a couple of times a day and it’ll be gone in 2-3 days.

Corsodyl, it cures everything. Especially good for getting rid of sore throats by gargling and for disinfecting small cuts and wounds.

Expensive at Boots, cheap at Bodycare.

Vodka and diet coke worked for me. Swill it round and then gob it out. Your aiming to get the white out of it.

I get ulcers when I’m really run down, mouth normally, or small buggers on the tip of my tounge (anoying!!) or worst of all at the back of my throat (meaning warm soup or scrammbled egg for a week for tea, yum).
Best thing I found is to gargle with very salty water/TCP a couple of times a day.
To stop the pain try chloraseptic spray
Can also get ulcer pastilles which are dished and you can rest on top of the ulcer.

TCP. dip your finger in some and dab it on the ulcer. Immediate relief, and long lasting. Soon clears the bu&&ers up.
