I let my dog off the lead last night and it was largely under control but at one point it bit a child's face. The owner got all pissy with me (obviously not a dog person!) and hit my dog with a cricket bat. Luckily my dog was wearing a helmet, because if it hadn't been it would certainly have been killed – the helmet is split all the way through. Anyway, I put the dog in the back of my Prius and took it to an NHS hospital, where the lazy, over-paid staff made me wait for ages and then told me they don't treat dogs. Apparently, we can't have a credible second-strike submarine-based nuclear capability and an NHS that can afford to treat dogs as we are already the most heavily taxed country in the world. That strikes me as fair enough, but apparently my English taxes are subsidising lazy Scottish socialist NHS dog-hospitals at which doctors who aren't even really Scotch wear kilts. There's nothing we can do about this, because of the West Lothian Question.
