i keep getting a bad back after riding / running - and im thinking of giving a tens machine a go. anyone used one? what are your experiences?

See my wife did 22 hours in labour solely on a Tens machine!
I think it works for some and doesn't for others. Don't think they are expensive or if you have any pregnant lady friends, relatives etc. you can buy the replacement pads easy enough so ask if you can borrow and try one.
I rigged the wifes one up to my arm and turned it on and it was a weird! Made me bend my arm as if I was drinking a pint which I will add ended up being a game!

As above. If you find the right nerve points you can make all sorts of bits twitch. Good pub fun.

It certainly helped my SO when her back was serious screwed up AND when she was in labour.
Although when she used it for too long, i SWEAR i could smell cooking pork chops!Posted 1 year ago # -
Absolutely useless and in fact made my back worse, tried acupuncture too, equally useless
Forget the quack, sorry chiropractor and go see a proper qualified physiotherapist to build the muscles up that support your back

whilst I wouldn't swear by one, it helped me when my back was at its worst - literally moving to change position in bed was screaming agony (even with diclofenac (no cocodomal - they turn me into a psychotic loon!)) - tens machine made it just about bearable to be able to move or get up and shuffle to go pee
gf says it didnt have any effect when she was sin labour though (although it did cause her to yelp when I accidentaly turned it up to full)

I would put a Tens in the same league of usefulness as chocalate teapots. Accupuncture helps with pain but a good physio is my recommendation and boy I tried everything with my neck problem. Chripractor put me in a bad way should have sued her.

the pharmacy in larger Asdas loan out the ones for use in pregnancy for about £20 a month, thats where my wife got hers from
You could always rent one for a month and see if it does any good
Manor Phamacy (not sure if national or just round here) and Boots also do them
You may get some funny looks from the checkout girl though
