[Closed] Talking about a specific business on STW: what protocol?

[#7449428]

I want to put up a thread about a store I used to frequent in Canada. It was a national chain, and although it doesn't have any branches here in the UK, some of what it sells overlaps with the sorts of interests many of us on here share.

What protocol does STW custom dictate? Is referring to the store by name okay? What about creating a link to its website? Or is it best I talk about it without mentioning the name?

NB. I have no investment in the business whatsoever, other than the place it holds in my psyche. ๐Ÿ™‚

If it's negative comment, don't get us in a libel case.

If it's positive comment, don't astroturf.

Cheers for that. I will post after meditating on the use of 'astroturf' as a verb.

If it's negative comment, don't hold anything back

If it's positive comment, don't bother - who wants to read that shit

No. I love MEC, and have actually recommended their stuff on here in the past, as my in-laws have a limited capacity for bringing stuff with them when they visit.

That said, I all will be revealed when I put the post up.

I'm also guessing MEC unless we're trying to compare Greggs to Tim Hortons ๐Ÿ˜€

Ooh the mystique. Am I going to be the unwitting victim of some viral marketing campaign?

Is it Canadian Tire - they're Canadian
Is it Air Canada - they're Canadian
Is it the Canadarm thing from the Space Shuttle - that's Canadian
