   Hi all,
   What tyre grips like a high-roller super-tacky but doesn't slow you down so much?

   I ride Ashton Court (& Leigh Woods) in Bristol a lot - now hardpack trail centre type surface, also some other similar hardpack trail centres like Llandegla, Brechfa etc. The high-roller is super confidence inspiring but super slow, recently I've been running a specialized storm control which is much faster but really skittish on rocky stuff. Any non-stupid suggestions welcome. I'd post a picture of my trail bike if I knew how to!

   Oh, and I mean front tyres, I ride a specialized captain on the back which is great, a bit sketchy but fine for flat-pedal types.

   Specialized Eskar or Purgatory, the former is slightly more grippy and slightly more draggy, the latter is better in mud.

   2.25 Advantage 60a on the front and 2.25 Crossmark on the back on the Bristol trails and all other trail centres. The back goes first so always gives good warning.

   My old faves were Intense System 5 C3. First time around the knobs peeled off every set I had, but bought another set and they have been ace. Rather like the old Specialized Enduro 2.2" - which I also loved.

   I've ridden at GT with a Super Tacky Minion DHF 2.5/2.3" combo (just back from Alps and couldn't be bothered to change for one ride) Whilst I would describe the grip as inspiring - I'd file it under super slow.

   My recommendation would be Nevegal Stick-e, or maybe my other current fave, a Minion DHF 60a (although after riding around damp woodland yesterday, I'd say the Nev is a bit better on wet roots & stones)

    Sounds like the nevegal stick-e has some support - do they roll better than a high-roller super then???
    I see they do a 2.1, that should at least be a wee bit better?

    2.35 stick-e nevegal on the front, with some of the knobs cut off so it doesn't become a mud-steamroller, and a 2.3 Eskar on the rear. Good at absolutely everything apart from deep mud. Not especially fast but not drastically slow.

    I was just about to post the same question, but a slightly different angle for me, as I'm a total weight weenie.

    I just wrecked the cross mark I had on the front, which I didn't think was the perfect tyre anyway, but I wonder what is for Bristol now?

    Something that grips well on the new trail centre type stuff, but will still get you around the plantation when it's filthy?

    I've got nobby nics on my other bike, but to be honest the nobs seem a bit too, well, nobby for the trail centre-y stuff. Is there some perfect tyre out there?
