Anyone know a technique / trick to replacing the cage on an XTR rear mech ? Preferably without a vice.

Depends entirely which model you’ve got.

Check out the tech docs on the Shimano site to help identify where the various bolts are.

Trick? I swapped the chewed carbon bage on my XTR to a medium cage from a Saint. Took the mech off the bike, unbolted the old cage and bolted on the new. Why would you need a vice?

I wasn’t sure if the spring would be an issue. Thanks Milky.
