I’ve seen somewhere that suspension pumps are either high or low pressure, have I got things totally wrong or is this so and can I get one pump that’ll work with all (well most at least) forks and shocks?

300psi pump will do the lot the lower pressure ones are more accurate for forks as they generally use lower pressures. always found fox pumps best.

low are 0-100 psi, high are 0-300psi.
I recommend the topeak DXG, it has a well designed attachment to negate the loss of air from your shock when you disconnet.
definitely worth the extra few quid for the pure accuracy

Halfords Bikehut shock pumps are identical to the ones supplied with Rockshox forks, and a LOT cheaper. A few years ago I bought one identical to a Fox pump for about £12 from Wooly Hat Shop.

I partially agree with peterpoddy as i've heard that the fox pumps are just a rip off cheap pump with the logo stamped on.
However, the valve connector system seen on the topeak DXG that causes no loss of air when disconnecting the pump is perfect for those tweaking their air shock settings for optimal performance.

The connector system on the Topeak pump is great, but you can buy the connector on it's own to use with any pump (see link below). It's what I used to do before I bought a Topeak pump with it integrated..
