   My Sony in-ear jobs have packed in on the left channel and I need a replacement.

   I'm thinking of spending a bit more, in hope of better sound/longevity.

   I won't entertain Sennheiser, as the one's I had before were rubbish. I'm pretty skeptical of Beats too, bit fashion victim-y. Noise cancellation is of limited use for me I think, it's only useful on planes right?

   Mostly they'll be used on the move and ideally will be small enough to fit in my laptop bag. However, I'm not ruling out on-ear jobs if the sound quality would be considerably better. I was thinking about some Grados maybe, but thought they might be a bit leaky/fragile for on the move. I'm thinking in-ear would isolate better from the sound of the city, but might be willing to compromise if on-ear were better/more comfortable for home listening.

   I wouldn't rule out Sennheiser for on-ear ones, but I'd agree that their in-ear ones are horrible.

   Generally, on ear ones will sound better, but are a lot more fragile stuffing them in and pulling them out of a bag all the time.Which is annoying if you're buying pricey ones.

   i've got panasonic noice cancelling ones and they sound awesome. the noise cancelling works everywhere to a degree, public spaces, traffic, buses, tube, trains etc. i love them.

   I absolutely love my Beyerdynamics.
   I was never much of a fan of Sennheiser or Grado.
   They are pretty huge though.

   I've used mine for about 7 hours every weekday for the last 6 years. I never tire of them.
   They are DT 531
   I have absolutely no idea if they available (second hand?). But I know I'd go straight out and buy another pair if they broke.

   (I've already replaced the foam pads and had the wire resoldered to keep them going).

   I broke various in-ear ones over the years, my specked ons are still going though.

   they're no way high end, but my experience put me off spending more than £20 on in-ear jobs.

   Tried my sons Marley (something or anothers) at Crimbo & would say they sounded better than my Sennheiser CX500's.
   If thats any help.

   Thanks all, Beyerdynamic T50P look lovely, but are out of my price range. Reckon AKG K450s might be worth a punt at £50ish

    I've got some Grado SR80 and they're by far the best sounding headphones I've used at that price(~£100). Not noise canceling/isolation in the slightest though, they're open backed which is why they sound great (IMO). Mine have been fine living in my rucksack and I've had them since uni (makes them almost 10 years old which is scary!)

    Senheiser 25 aren't bad either, sound is a bit more like headphones (assuming you'd think the grado sound more like a hi-fi).

    Nothing comes close to sound magic e10 for less than £80 quid. Seach for reviews, everyone bums them. Cheapest I've found is here
