Ive recently noticed the difference between picking time and sourness.

I was eating them as I picked them at my allotment on Tuesday night – absolutely lovely – considering I was never a big fan. Then I took the same batch to work yesterday after leaving them in fridge overnight and a bit of time they had become loads sharper and tangier, rather unpleasant actually.

SFB – Looking is allowed with your eyes, not your hands(or a camera with zoom lens)

the photos of totty rarely come out well due to unaccountable camera shake 🙁 Anyway, the real thing is so much easier on the eye!

Don't put strawberries in the fridge!

Keep them somewhere cool, but don't chill them.

Can I just ask, is everyone elses wild Strawbs and Rasbs late this year as well? Soooo disapointed that none are around yet – spent a day searching all the usual spots on Loch Tay with a group yesterday, to no avail.

    wild Strawbs

that reminds me of my little girl, she'd go out in the garden and bend right over, as toddlers can, so she could look up under the leaves, and as soon as the wild strawberries showed the first blush of pink she'd eat them 🙂 Mind you, another time I found her happily sucking a slug 🙂

Strawbs are out but Rasps aren't really due for a couple of weeks yet. That's Northumberland.

Oh, look, I've created a summer pudding.

That's the devil's work – taking delicious fruit and ruining it with soggy Wonderloaf!

Rasps are best – with single cream and meringue.

I hate those Elsanta strawberries ( that mc mentioned ^^). A good strawberry is fantastic.
Though raspberries do freeze well and we've got a good crop this year.
