So I get about 200 spam emails a day, 25-30 phone calls and texts about loans I’ve applied for, selling my house, my car, credit cards, have been added to gay dating sites, getting texts from random blokes wanting their back doors un-hinged.

Been onto my mobile provider, I want a new number. OK we’ll send you a new sim card and cancel your existing number. So for 2-3 days I have no phone. Sorry sir that’s our policy. For some reason they can’t wait until a new sim is activated before canceling the old number

Been onto email host, we can’t change your email account, you’ll have to close it and then open a new one.

Of course they both ‘could’ do what I’d like they just choose not to.

Got the IP address of the stalker, their ISP want a police report before they’ll send a warning.

Moral of the story is, people who are so mad that they’re quite interesting, should just be left alone……

Not sure if this is OTT or not but can you not get a private injunction to stop this person harassing you?

That’s the next stage, gathering all the evidence together at the moment and also need to confirm their address.

That is some amount of effort by the stalker. There could be a job for him/her at the NOTW…. oh wait!

Surely if they were any good at stalking they’ll be reading this right now.

Don’t you just love ‘Company Policy’ and their inflexible processes … perfect for suffocating common sense and initiative.

if they’re using a program such as peer guardian it’ll be almost impossible to pin them down via the IP address 🙁

    fingers crossed for you dude!

I know who it is. they’re a tortured soul.

they aren’t clued up enough about IP etc. they’ve made a lot of mistakes.

it’s not your usual spam, it’s actual applications for loans, credit cards, having my house valued, test drives of cars, making profiles on dating sites then sending my phone number to people.

So is this for real? You really have a true life stalker who you suspect of all this? or is it simply that you’ve been unfortunate enough to be added to some spam database?

    Edit: ahha answered already 🙂

Indeed. Very strange. Unless this is a subtle message to the stalker to desist?

Obviously I can’t give the definative answer, but it might help explain to others why iDave doesn’t answer the phone or reply to e-mails very promptly if at all.
    He’s being properly faff’d about.

    iDave.
I’m sorry you’re going through all that cr4p.
I hope you get it sorted, and a rest.
    You probably need it.
    Sounds like hell.

Hmmm. Where were you on the night the incident happened? …and how do you know he isn’t answering his phone?

hmmmmm, I always thought that cokamany faux science diet was never the work of a real person. Do you realise the damage this stalker has done to your good name on this very forum?

I only answer the phone if it’s a known number. Emails are going into a sludge of spam. All being dealt with in the next few days hopefully.

You have mine. Update me with your new one, if you wish, when you sort it.

FWIW, eons ago, I had a dispute with BT mobile.
They could have just re-instated the balance of the contract.
But ohhh noo. That wasn’t company policy, so they made me do a full 12 months again.
And I hadn’t done anything wrong.

    Anyway, Good luck Dave.

It makes you frightfully fashionable though, having a stalker.

It’ll be Hello magazine photo-shoots next. Well…. either that or knifed to death in a frenzied assault in the street.

Flinking blip that’s obscure. I used to know of a person who ordered takeaway’s and taxi’s for a sworn enemy, which I thought was amusing when I first heard of it as the sworn enemy is a particularly evil person. But it didn’t take long to realise it was very unfair on the taxi and fast food companies. (Although they swiftly blacklisted the address, and this was in the 80’s before things went hi-tec). Good luck on finding peace.
