Interestingly someones gone and built a bike with a spokeless wheel ( rear only ) so prehaps all the bike designs that have them are gonna come closer to reality

Can't see any benefits to that, extra weight/reduced strength & possibly higher rolling resistance.

if the bearing was at the bottom just obove the contact patch it would make more sense to me,, thats fast work for students
