I have a specialized singlecross and I'm going to put a external BB SRAM crank on it. It currently has a square taper crank. I normally get the BB shell faced but it looks quite clean and I was wondering if the singlecross or specilized bikes in general come with faced BB shells?
Anyone put external BB cranks on a specialized bike without facing and had problems?

its not about the cleaness, its how straight the shell is, my head tube ont he DMR looked fine, but the shop took nealry a MM of metal off one end before it was level!

Sure, I appreciate that, I was just wondering if specialized bikes come already faced.

I've built up both an 03 Epic and an 08 carbon HT which did not require facing. Specialize actually state in the handbook the frames leave the factory faced. However I don't know if this applies to their assembled bikes.
