Anybody got one? Any good? Read a recent review (in an inferior MTB magazine) & sounds really good, but what's the real world STW massive opinion. I can get one for c.£900 & looks like a bit of a bargain for that.

Getting 20% off at Dales.
http://www.dalescycles.com/2009_Specialized_Pitch_FSR_Pro_p/2009pitchpro.htm
Should be £939.57 after the discount

Chuffing bells that Dales offer is cheap...and so very tempting. Wish I hadn't seen that. Offer ends tomorrow so only one day to make up my mind.
...Evil Sovereign frame would also be nice. Damn, damn, damn.

31lb I think was quoted in the ST review...sounds optimistic to me.
I'm soooo tempted but the thought of having to flog a 4 month old Superlight is putting me off. Is the Pitch overkill for the Surrey Hills?
Posted 3 years ago # -
Review I read said just over 30 pounds I think.
Posted 3 years ago # -
I've got one - had it for about 4-5 months - its ace.

They don't feel too bad weight wise when you pick one up. I'm going to swap my Yeti 575 for one.....

You getting one then BB? Let us know.

I have read a few reviews on this bike and it's all good. It's the bike I would buy even at the rrp if I had the funds.

I'd buy one. They look spot on & for £900 the bargain of the century.

Ordered. Just couldn't resist...after a few beers.

Meh everyone is jumping on the bandwagon now

Pitch owners, what are they like sizing wise? MBR review felt you could opt for a smaller than usual size. Personally I'm 5'11 and on ride a large one usually (phwoar)
Posted 3 years ago # -
This Pitch things contagious!
Posted 3 years ago # -
5'8 and on a medium - tried a small and found it a bit too small.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Coolio. I'm 5'11 so I guess a large would be right for me.
Posted 3 years ago # -
How "constant" are Specialized sizes? I'm hovering around the 6ft mark and my 03 Enduro fits me fine in a medium.

Ignore them and go try one. IMO they feel rather small for their marked size, certainly a sortish cockpit. At 5'8", 30' inside leg, I felt like I was bang in the middle of a medium rather than at the lower end as on other bikes.

Just found this, which is useful -
Pitch FSR Rider Height Rider Height (cm)
Bike Size
Small 5' 0" - 5' 6" 152 - 168
Medium 5' 6" - 5' 11" 168 - 180
Large 5' 11" - 6' 2" 180 - 188
X-Large 6' 2" - 6' 6" 188 - 198Posted 3 years ago # -
Just got my Pitch yesterday, looks great but its midweek so im yet to hit the trail.
I'm 6ft and ride a 19" M4 hardtail. I got the Large Pitch.
The medium would have been far too small for my style of riding.
I like stretched out fast XC more than jumpy ninja stuff.
Even with the large I may swap the stem for a 20mm longer model. What a bike though. It was a battle to get one after everwhere in Scotland seemed to sell out completely except midget sizes.
After a lot of phone calls Evans saved the day : )

Was thinking......buy the pro and sell as much as the bits as possible.....how much do you reckon I could sell the bits for?

Why would you want to? Most of the bits are perfectly fine. Fit a bash ring/36t and keep the others as psares for other bikes. Change grips, saddle, stem and bars (Which are also fine) to taste/fit and that's it. Everything else is great for the job.

I'm thinking... I'll leave it a while and wait for some "barely used" Pitch Pro's on ebay.

Sell the secndhand bits, keep the new ones?

Good plan!
Some people are buying them because of the good reviews and because they are cheap, without thinking, then trying to turn them into an XC bike by chucking inappropriately light parts on them. They will then realise that no matter what they do, a Pitch isn't an XC or marathon bike, never will be, and will always feel a bit heavy and cumbersome unless you chuck it down some big hills/drops/rocks at full tilt, (which is where it excells) but they'll be riding round Swinley Forest cussing the damned thing....
Although you won't be getting your hands on mine for a couple of years at least, and 6 rides in, it's hardly "barely used" either.....

The secondhand bits (some on here will say I dont ride) are pretty worn cosmetically so wouldnt go for much but they work andwork well and are a known-entity to me if that makes sense
