This post came on my speacialised stump jumper evo in August and it’s just not a reverb. Anyone have these issues?

    1. Sit on the saddle when hitting something and the saddle falls back as it has one screw to tighten it.

    2. Never fully reaches the top and I have to squeeze if with my thighs and drag it to the top. Internal cable routing doesn’t help this at all.

I don’t have one but before getting a reverb looked at them. Reviews put me off, mainly the one screw issue. Just seemed like a bad design to me.

As for number 2. My reverb wouldn’t return fully at first. turned out I had the seat post clamp too tight.

Had one for over. 2 years, the clamp does slip but if you take it off, clean everything, apply carbon grip paste to the contact areas and tighten it right up (ignore the torque setting) then it’s fine. I prefer the simple design to a reverb, believe me they have just as many, if not more, problems. If it doesn’t return just add more air. You can strip, clean and regrease one in about 5 mins and there isn’t really much to go wrong. Hope you have more luck with it!

Had one for 18 months on an EVO….never had a problem, never serviced, never gone wrong.

    Try increasing the air pressure.

Had mine a year and a half with no problems. Yes, the clamp does need tightening right up, but they are easily serviceable.

My blacklite wouldn’t stay at the height I wanted despite a couple of rebuilds by the LBS, who eventually swapped it for a reverb. I do miss the set heights, although the reverb is slicker in every other respect.

My was playing up when i first got it (wouldn’t stay down) but a new cable a a bit of grease sorted it. Mine was secondhand and on an ’11 Evo so no internal routing but if i insert the post fully (to drop the seat low) then the bend in the cable can be a bit extreme and it starts to pop up on it’s own again – otherwise it’s been pretty consistent.

Sounds like you need to tighten the seat clamp a bit and add a bit more air.

The book says 40psi max which is what I’m using. I’ll try the carbon grip paste I think.

Mine was fantastic! Opened my eyes to the dropped world. Worked flawlessly through summer and a winter, plus a few crashes.

We are running six in our family. Carbon paste on all of them with no seat tilting problems. They have all done a lot of work and have been flawless.
