after a week or so of boarding my gloves now smell so bad it's embarrassing. it got to the point where i was trying not to wave my hand around too much when paying at the hut.
i've tried hand washing them, but now i've a pair of stinky gloves with a faint wiff of 'mountain fresh'. i don't want to chuck them into the washing machine in fear of ruining them. they're Mammut leather gloves and cost more pennies than is deemed sensible by many sensible folk.
please help.
Option 1: return them for a refund and buy a different make.
If this fails..
Option 2: Burn them!
I once had some gloves made by Gill which stank like this after one use. It's not you, it's the gloves.
Remember the stinky Nike trainer story? My son had some. We had to leave them outside thinking there was something wrong with the boy's feet. If only we'd known the cause at the time coz they cost a packet.
It's to do with what they make the product with, not your personal hygiene.
mmmm.... 140€ up the swanny... they're four years old, but other than the smell in A1 condition.
any other more hopeful tips out there?

soak them in a bucket with a little handwash detergent / soap flakes for a day, agitating lightly? Then dry slowly and use leather conditioner on them?
never had to wash leather but it must be the linings that are stinking, rather than the leather? Can you turn them inside out was thoroughly wash the linings by hand?
Cant you just wash them ???
it says DO NOT MACHINE WASH so i'm guessing it's best not to.
yeah, it's obviously the lining that stinks, not the leather. the linings are not detatchable....
Bicarbonate of soda?
machine wash tied inside a rugby sock (or a hiking sock, basically a nice big sock, so they don't get bashed around).

Muc off Foam Fresh? Perfect for cleaning shoes, helmets etc should try it on your gloves, leaves them lemony fresh!
What did you use to hand wash them? Something recommended on the Mammut website in the care section? Soap flakes? Bog standard washing powder?
Try Bicarb. I have some Burton gloves which sound pretty similar in make up. I soaked them overnight in Bicarb in cold water, and then turned them inside out to hand wash them using normal washing detergent.
seal them in a bag and stick them in the freezer which will hopefully kill off any bacteria.
tried the freezer thing. defrosted them and they still ponged.

would soaking them in Milton work
Shoe de-smelling powder or spray. Kills the bacteria and makes it smell better.. supposedly. The powder worked better in my shoes. Also could try Fabreze, that's meant to do the same thing.
Zap them in the mircrowave, used to work for my smelly wetsuit boots.
