Hello fellow solo'ers!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Ill be there on my super-duper light weight short travel XC rig

O wait ... My bad
Posted 1 year ago # -
Me too. Got my mud tyres, bum lard and rice pudding. Sorted.
Last year I had to pee 3 times a lap towards the end tho, any idea why (too much caffenie maybe)?- probably cost me a lap!

Happened to me. Being well hydrated and full of caffeine is my guess.

See you there - doing pairs.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yep as a pair, my first 24 hour event !
Just out of interest, what bikes are you guys riding for the event ?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Solo here as well....
Posted 1 year ago # -
Vets team here on my SS may do a lap or two on my geared hardtail, will be wearing a tash and Jamaican jersey !
and will be heckling on the horse jump hill !
Posted 1 year ago # -
Riding a Salsa Ti hardtail. If it rains, and we're far enough ahead, I'll resort to the SS as I don't fancy trashing my transmission in the mud.

Geared HT, bouncer when I get tired, SS for the mud and beer when it gets really muddy!!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yep-solo'ing it for the first time. 4th solo 24 though & god knows how many times at SiTS in total!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yep, as a pair.

Spud, I've had nothing through since confirmation either. Mind you it was exactly the same last year, I had to email Pro Velo to get the info pack a few days before the event.
I'm taking a rigid 29er 1x9 to run in dry/ish conditions but will convert to SS if it turns to slime, also a full suss 26er in case my old bones need a rest.Posted 1 year ago # -
Pairs, but my partner has knackered his knee and has his NHS MRI scan on Sunday at 9am! I don't think the partnership is going to be 50/50!!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Spud/Collie, I reiceved the information pack thing sometime ago so might be worth an email.
What ratio you soloist singlespeeders using? I think I'd have to granny gear it to survive 24hrs on an ss!
Whatever happens it's going to be 'sticky,' think rain's forecast there this week...
Posted 1 year ago # -
Depends which forecast is most accurate, Metcheck say its going to be dry but the Met office predict heavy rain on Friday and showers over the weekend. I guess that makes packing simple - take everything!
Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm going with the Derby forecast. the Burton one is for a station 35k to the west!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Me if i get a lift up there from somerset.
Like 24/12, just for the social and to say thanks to everyone.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I'll be doing it solo. First ever solo race so could be interesting.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Me - team of 4. Getting the Orange EVO something hardtail built up this week, digging the trailrakers out of the cupboard and praying for rain - some mud might level the playing field and make up for my mediocre fitness !
Posted 1 year ago # -
Praying for rain! Blasphemer!
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yeah sorry ....
Posted 1 year ago # -
Me too (team of 4 - very lazy!)
Soul with gears (and lots of tyre combos!)
Got an email info pack a couple of weeks ago (only sent to the team leader though)
See you there!
Posted 1 year ago # -
i'll be there solo'ing, ticking the laps of again as last year. Not expecting any great result as dislocated and fractured my hip on New Years Day and wasn't expected to be riding above a couple of hours by this point in the year!! If it rains though i'll be the one heckling from the side!! Say high i'll be the loud one that never stops talking!!!:O)

my bud did the thunder run 24 hour running race on a 10k loop of the sits 2010 course last weekend , said it looks like a good course - hope that motivates folk
Posted 1 year ago # -
One of my team mates lives near the course and went watch a bit of the running over the weekend. He reckons the course looked pretty dry and in not bad nick considering the rain we have had recently.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Thankfully nowhere near what came down last summer. Is it the same course as last year?
