I've got SRAM on all my bikes other than the road bike. Completely happy.

being an ex shop worker i wouldn't touch sram with a bargepole! it's made out of cheesy alloy and bends/snaps, and is over machined which encourages bending/snapping, the brakes are a pig to set up/service by comparison with others. it only got on so many bikes OE because it was sold cheap as a package meaning:-
"yes you can have a good price on rockshox if you take our crappy isis/powerspline rubbishy chainsets/bottom brackets and poor avid 3 brakes and we'll chuck in the x3/5 stuff for your low end bikes"
my 2p
frankly shimano's ad campaign is correct "Shimano works"

What a stupid thread.
Surprisingly, different people like different brands.
Shock horror.
Some of the comments are just plain stupid I'm afraid.Going to sleep now before riding my bike tomorrow.

I think those who like SRAM are just trying to be different. Okay, their kit can look nice with customisable bits, but shimano are best at the gear shifting thing.
I work as a bike mechanic. I sometimes taste a wee lump of sick in my mouth when mounting an SRAM equipped bike in the workstand.

I must also be doing something wrong, x9 all the way, never had any real problems, last ages, really reliable, don't need that much adjusting.

Grim,
Had exactly the same trouble on my 2010 Crush.
I've also upgraded the shifters and rear mech to X0.
Slick now!

Actually, to balance my previous post out, most SRAM equipped bikes I see are commuters - lower to middle groupsets - and they don't shift as well as the equivalent Shimano. So I guess the top end kit might shift better.

Only ever used and am happy with Shimano.

I've had to free up two different XT front mechs in the last month.

Gonna take shifter apart and see what i can do with it. Nothing ventured nothing gained

What a load of utter crap.

I think cheap SRAM works better than cheap Shimano. And I think expensive Shimano is a bit better than expensive SRAM...... until the cables start to gum it all up, then SRAM keeps going longer

Don't particularly like Shimano, but the kit works, obviously. Have got SRAM on the 69er and it too works well. What was your point again?
