Anyone own one? Ridden one? I don’t doubt it’s a great bike going downhill, but how is it on climbs?

Untitled by brockelsby2011, on FlickrHere's mine in size L I'm 5,11 and fits me fine.
It pedals very well up, I have the standard fox float r shock with a low compression tune so there is no bob whatsoever if your smooth on the pedals when climbing. Downhill are loads of fun even better with 36s on the front. I love mine and can't see me changing for a long time to come. I owned a Heckler before, like the Butcher even more than the Heckler.

I wouldn't bother with the RP23 upgrade, the bikes pedals that well with a Float R.

I've had mine just over a year. I'm getting on for 50
but this thing makes climbing enjoyable. Light years ahead of my Norco Six on the ups & the downs. Not quite as flighty as my steel hardtail but no slug when it comes to climbing. Id agree with the other post about the rear shock. I'm using an RP23 but have never used the ProPedal. There's simply no need. I'd buy another tomorrow

There's a year old one I know someone is selling. Initially I thought it might be a bit too all-mountain freeridery sort of thing for my taste / style / ability / mainly ability, but maybe not.
Oh, and thanks for the various replies folks.

Kennyp where do you ride?
It's a great trail bike that pedals really well and can take the abuse if things get rough. I definitely would not call it a free ride bike. I have set up tubeless with Flow rims and it rollls really well and is wash to pedal.Posted 5 months ago # -
During the winter I mostly ride the Pentlands and Glentress. In the summer I love big long day rides in the Highlands, which often (okay, always) have loads of uphills and pushing. Hence my query about how suitable it was for that sort of thing.
