Well done guys another resounding success!! Thanks to all the organisers, marshalls & feed station peoples for making it a great day out again!

Had to laugh, I was about half way round and was in a large contigent of weekend warriors pushing up an impossible incline when a loud voice could be heard from the back saying 'I can't ride up here because of all these people in the way'! to which her husband in an equally loud voice replied 'yes,I didn't know we joined the ramblers' But neither of them even said 'excuse me, rider coming through' if they did the pushers would part like the red sea when moses came through

Well……….. wtf did they expect entering an event with nearly 1000 bikers all going up the same sheep track – T*ssers! 🙄

Nice to get away from it all – 😉

Did not put my gloves on so now have burnt hands. Found it hard going up some of the climbs, but the descents were great

It was good again – quite enjoyed the 'mist' on last bit, more refreshing than last year. The 'light rain' back at campsite was a tad ott though!

I found it harder than last year (same time though), but I think that was due to the head-wind on the (long route) section after the split.

When I finished I was absolutely covered in mud. My two buddies (one who'd done the short route, and one who's a damn site fitter) met me at the finish and were amazed, as neither of them had seen any rain, apart from when getting changed at the end…

But after the 'free' nosh at the end I now know why Veggies are a miserable lot!

Another great day, thanks to everyone involved. I was 20mins faster than last year but had a real hard time after the long ride feed station, it seemed to take forever to get my legs working again.Shame about the light shower at the end though, its nice to socialise after the ride but wasnt going to stand around in that!!
By the way I had the black pudding stew and it really hit the spot.

Gutted! I was handed bowl of veg, didn't realise there was a meat option – black pudding too!!

first time for me – I enjoyed it, a couple of the climbs were pretty hardcore but it was good to see a few people cleaning them.
I opted for the 50Km route and managed it in what seems a very slow time of 4:45.
Fell off 3 times, once not paying enough attention and went over the bars going thru a tiny rut 😳 and just slid off the other times.
The rain at the end was harsh, one of our lot had opted to do the 75K but he turned up after 6.5 hours soaked and grinning like a cheshire cat.
Oh and hello to the (russian or swedish?) guy on the Land Rover bike your comedy dismount lifted our spirits! 🙂

Had a good day out. Two mates did the short route and stayed bone dry. I went long and ended up utterly drenched for for about 3 hours.
Some nice downhills, but they didn't make up for the climbs.

Got all excited when I saw the 5km to go board and promptly went over the bars into the gorse. My arms and legs look like i've interfered with a porcupine. Thanks to the French bloke that pulled me out of that one.

30 seconds later I went over the bars into some heather. Quite a relief after the gorse. Thanks to the bloke on the Cannondale that pulled me out of that one.

Maxxis Aspen were excellent for the first hour, but after that they made the bike plain dangerous. They're coming off the bike today.

had a very good time, only did the short route but knackered today

did make a bit of an error, after the 1st climb and ride along the top started to descend and should have taken a sharp right hand for a stream crossing and up the small valley

didnt notice any markings though so myself and a few others just tore down some sweet doubletrack then onto a lane and bombed down to the bottom for a couple of km or so, by the time we reached the road realised we were no longer on the course and a had a very hot slog all the way back to the proper route where we found a few others who had made the same mistake and werent very happy with a nearby marshall and the 2 guys on motorbikes following the last rider

so did anyone else make the same error?

still it was a challenge catching up with the rest of the riders 😀

Did the 48K myself. Disappointed with myself for pushing up so many climbs but fun all the same.

Got filthy at one point when I tried to go through a muddy ditch that turned out to be very deep and the front wheel just stopped. In I went…30 seconds later, someone else did the same so it was all good.

Likes the downs; you could get up quite a lick – dont usually get up to those speeds on twisty singletrack. Had a bum twitcher at one point as I entered a corner far too fast, but came out the other side unscathed.

    See you all next year

I used mine for first time and thought they were great, even in hte boggy bits – they are a summer race tyre after all. (29er here btw)

No shame in pushing up some of the climbs on that course. They're brutal.

Yeah, I know they're a summer race tyre – it was summer when I started! Went through about 3 more seasons on the 75k though.

    Bog=OK, slippery mud=lethal.

When we got to the campsite I commented on the bloke next to me who also had Aspens. He said they weren't the worst tyres he'd ever used in the wet, but were very close to it.

Well done to all who took part and a big 'thank you' to the organisers & marshals. I've done all Rough Rides to date, and all I can say is it doesn't get any easier!

I had an enjoyable day, but could have done without the rain at the end (washed salty sweat into my eyes, meaning I could hardly see for the final descent). Respect to those who did the long route on single speeds and to the nutter on the 'cross bike.

My first Roughride this year. Bloody hard work, fair bit of walking on some of the climbs, first-half lovely, second-half mostly wet and miserable but finished in the sunshine with a massive smile on my face (not forced despite the encouragement). I thought the organisation was superb, despite the slight food shortage at the end, a massive thanks is due to all those involved. Do I do it again next year? Probably.

Coming from a relatively flat Herts, I found the climbs really tough. But, had a good days riding. Had a near miss on the farm track. Over cooked a corner and found myself scrapping the verge. Nearly came off, but just about held it. Sorry to the fella riding behind who suddenly found a rider in front covered in hedgerow. Did well to miss me lol. Gutted with the veg curry I was given. Didn't realise there was another option. Cya next year
