I've got a Rockshox Revelation on the front of my Orange 5 which has developed a fair bit of play in the right hand leg. So it needs a new set of bushes in the leg, which appear to retail for about £15. However, I'm not that confident about opening up such an expensive bit of kit and would rather give it to a more competent bike mechanic in ye olde bike shoppe.

Except, I can't seem to find anywhere to take it! Is sending it to TFTuned my only option? Is that the only place that'll handle a Rockshox fork? Am I really looking at spending £100 or more for a service and bushes change, when all that's really needed are the bushes?

My wifey has confiscated my credit card, and that amount of hard cash is impossible for me to come by without resorting to doing over the local sub post office 🙄 Are there other places out there I can send my fork to, or does TF have a complete monopoly in the UK?

    Cheers

You can send them off to Chain Reaction as well I think. But, I don't know whether they just act as a middle man & ship them off to TFT anyway or whether they'd be any cheaper in the long run. Have a look on their site.

If you don't have the tools, I wouldn't have thought it would be an easy job although you might be able to make some tools that will do the job. Have you downloaded the tech service manual from the Rockshox website to see what is actually involved?

Have you never serviced them then? If not they're probably due one anyway! Imho send them to tf. Least you'll know they're in perfect working order when you get them back

I may be wrong on this but don't you need a specific bushing removal tool for changing bushings in rockshox (or any) forks. I don't think these are cheap either. If my bushings were shot in my forks they'd be off to TFT.

Evans cyles also offer fork servicing via their Kendal branch. You can arrange for your local store to send them off. There are more details on their website.
Evans and Fisher are both cheaper than TFT,though my expereince of tft is very favourable, and turn around time is very quick.

Inserting bushes into a fork requires specialist tools (read that as well on the mtbr forumn). Best bet is have a word with TF Tuned to see what they say. Every fork I have sent off has come back better than new.

If you've got any sense you won't be sending them to Ev*ns. Get them to TFT and you'll have them sorted out in no time, (and to a good standard)

Another vote for TFT, very professional, lightening turnaround (picked up on Monday, back by Wednesday and that included repair work as well as a service). Seems expensive but the service is top notch. Other thing I found was the replacement part I needed only came as an assembly at a whopping £ 151, they could use the lower part of the assembly to repair other forks so charged me just £ 42 for the bit I needed, not sure that would have happened if I'd sent them elsewhere.

I've also heard horror stories of other places taking weeks not days to turn around a fork. If something does go wrong TFT have a good rep for fixing it quickly.
