    Hi

Ive been told that the cotic road rat will work better with 700c wheels as runninmg MTB wheels will leave the BB too low with the possibility of the pedals hitting the ground etc.

Does anyone have any experience of a roadrat with MTB wheels?

there's a cunning trick to get round this – fit the cranks 180 degrees round from where you normally would. that way when the crank would normally be at the bottom of its stroke it will now be at the top, hence you can't strike them on the ground.

i run 26" wheels on my roadrat, BB is quite low, but you quickly learn to be careful, have only caught my pedals once in about 10months. drop me an email if you want to discuss further 😀

The BB won't be crazy low, so I wouldn't worry. The BB drop on 700c wheels with 28c tyres is 55mm. Using 26" wheels with little slicks will drop this about 20mm, to 75mm. This is a touch lower that conventional road bikes, but not by much. If you're using 26" wheels with some fat slicks like some 1.5" or something then it'll raise it back up 10mm and you'll be fine.
