I'd like to know speed and probably cadence for interest and consistency, what's a good one to look at?

Cateye Strada 8 works fine; bit flimsy but unbroken and on original battery after 3 years.

Without cadence, Cateye Strada, looks and works great, as long as you don't need the clock function, have a couple, and they loose time very quickly.
With cadence, either the Double Strada, or Sigma BC1609STS Cadence, the Sigma is about £15 less.

or them to work for very long
hated that computer , used one to log our trip round new zealand - piece of crap that it was used to regularly not register a connection to the bracket / sensor at the wheel ....
was a common fault too i warrentied a fair few in the summer after i got back.

+1 for bad experience with the Strada. Seemed to get interference when riding in a group, and the two I've had both died within a year. Admittedly the second may be sensor battery related, but it got nicked with my bike so I'll never find out.
Maybe they're the best pick of a bad bunch? Don't know.

If you dont need cadence then Garmin Edge 200 is the best thing i have ever bought for a bike. Granted its not the cheap either!!
But its great.

cateye strada here - its been fine (I'm using the wired version as wireless does my nut in, lost signal etc) also good on the turbo as the speed sensor is on the rear wheel

I've got three Starda wirelesses and a Strada double for the road bike, all been very good, reliable and not prone to inteference like my previous Trek. Easy to use as well.
