Needing to move router to a more sensible position, so need a new one about 6m long. Prices vary from £1 to over £20.

No is short answer IME. Some seem wired different. Work or nowork, price is probably irrelevant.

Some are two-wire, some are 4, some are wired 1 & 4 > 2 &3.

have a look at what you have now & match it, it really depends on the deign of the modem itself.

It’s not really a standard, a replacement cable would probably work but there’s no guarantees. You’ll be safer with a telephone extension cable.

What’s unsensible about the router’s current location?

Due to position of BT master socket its in full view, I want to I’ve been told to tuck it away out of sight.

Could you not get a small curtain or something?
