having just joined the i-phone revolution, I’ve missed loads of great apps I guess…

What can you recommend me to look at?

Must be free cos I’m tight or at least very cheap but very good.

Most apps are only 59p…….. surely you can stretch to that 😐

    NavFree is good though.

Given that you opened and read an iPhone thread specifically to complain about it, then many the problem isn’t us users? 😉

Suppose you may have a point there. I did it on a WInMo ‘phone too……

Some of the shop frontend apps (Tesco / Amazon / EBay) are nicer than using Safari for access.

Angry Birds (freebie version) of course.

Google Goggles (part of the Google app) is pretty amazing. Take a photo of something (e.g. a book, wine label, famous landmark etc) and google magically identifies it then searches for it.

dragon dictation works really well an i think its free. speech recognition is pretty good and makes typing out a long email easier.

red laser is a cool app that scans barcodes and gives you info on the products and searches the web for the cheapest prices. handy if you are in haggling on a telly or something

angry birds is very addictive and a great waste of time, much bettered than being forced to watch xfactor…

Cut The Rope is also highly addictive – though a lot easier than Angry Birds.

New levels just released are a bit harder…. 🙂 Great game though, I just giggle every time a spider gets the candy or when the monster points to his mouth. It’s a very ‘cute’ came IMO. 🙂

This is the first time I wish the iPad had a camera 🙁

That sounds ace, a time sink of monumental proportions. I still can’t get over seeing my house on streetview – as the wife put it, ‘why don’t you just walk down the drive a bit and have a look?’

Slice it was addictive for me, finished it now though. Not free, but 59p or something trivial.

IIRC all have freebies to try or are free:

    parking mania
    mx mayhem
    poolstar
    flight control
flickcricket (although the full version is a bit buggy but still worth 59p)
    argos
    flixster
    flickkick football

They make a paid app free every day.

We used one on the drive to Glentress the other week at night. Speed camera detector but you could flip the image, put the phone on the dash and it reflected into the windscreen – heads up display that showed your speed and location of speed cameras!!! Far too cool!
