I've done a fair bit of camping in the past but this summer we are having our first family camping holiday and fancy Cornwall or Devon to use our new canvas bell tent!! Something near the beach with good wash facilities and plenty of open space, perhaps with a small shop but not bothered about any other facilities. Where would you experienced glampers suggest? Thanks

North Morte farm, Morthoe in Devon - fantastic site, decent play areas for the kids, walking distance to nearby village with a couple of good pubs, etc. Woolacombe about a mile and a half if you want something a bit livelier. Mrs Mitch is Devon born and bred, and it's always been her favourite part of the county.

I haven't camped for some time, is 200 a week the going rate these days?

1st week in August at old macdonalds last year was £130.
Bregante , old macdonalds would be perfect for your kids unlimited poy/mini train rides and they can help with feeding the animals. We've been there for the last 3 years and my oldest lad (6) is gutted we aren't camping this year it's the only thing he's got against his new baby brother. The beaches in the area are cracking too.

Valley Camp site at Polzeath.
Been going there the last 10 years every May bank holiday - just got back on tuesday. Great family run and just had new wash and shower building built following a fire.
Lots of space and 2 min walk from one of the best beaches in the country.
25 mins from wadebridge or 30 min walk to Rock and a 5 min ferry to Padstow.
Lots of beaches within 30 mins.

noongallas in cornwall very laid back, allows camp fires, really nice woodland at the bottom of the campsite, great for kids.

Wooda Farm Park near Bude, although it's a short distance from the beach.
Facilities there are great.
