Wow Brant, you've been busy! Very exciting line up. Love it. Trouble is, your 1st generation ScandAL's so good I can't find an excuse to change it!

Why's there a 17"? It's unusual to see a range with sizing that close together

    Posted 1 year ago #
  5. brant - Member

    Why's there a 17"- isn't that a bit too much overlap?

It evens up the distribution over the 16in and 18in sizes, and suits those people who are torn between the 16in and 18in sizes

I know cos you told me that...in 2009 brant. Your memory is worse than mine

Not that I'm in the market for a new bike this year, but hats off to you for offering 16/17/18" options. It always amazes me how many (big) manufacturers expect you to compromise on frame size. Yes, I know you can't offer a size for everybody, but one inch increments, particularly at this juncture, just seems very sensible.

  8. elaine anne - Member

its also sensible with frames coming in at 14 inch too ! (thats for tiny people)

oh and helooooooooo 'Brant' : im still intrigued 'bout the name 'Troof', c,mon- spill the beans where did you pick that name out of?

Brant, have you got more sizing info on the 14" frames (effective top tube mainly) - especially the Blue Pig & Piglet?

Any news on the ElectroPig yet Brant?

Brant, I take it the Ti piglet is going to retail at a similar price to the Ti pig?

    Cheers,

14" frames (effective top tube mainly) - especially the Blue Pig & Piglet?

572mm (22.5in) on the Blue Pig
    588mm (23.1in) on the Piglet

    Designed to enforce short stems

Aye - kind of TD:1ish pricing.

And prevent the use of the bikes by women!

    23inch top tube on a 14inch frame - your having a laugh.

I agree Rik. They'd fit me well, but are immediately off my list for Kate. I'll talk to Kate about Adele's frame.

Sorry I might of missed it but I guess the Ti pig and Mmmbop will also come in the 17" size?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  17. brant - Member

    Ti Pig will.

    Mmmbop is discontinued.

Lets try this again- any idea of a frame weight for the Blue Pig X as yet? Watching this one with interest...

I reckon it's the Grange Hill way of saying 'truth'

Saves about .3lb over the regular FatHeadTubing. So around 5.3lb with the same dropouts.

The Swopouts do add some weight, so that's why we're doing a "regular dropout" version.

Brant, will the Ti Piglet be available with vertical dropouts, not sliders?

It's a thought. Saves about 1/3rd of a pound too. We'll see what Lynskey say about splitting production.

    Seen the Nukeproof SNAP?

Is it somethign stupid like the on-one?

What particular aspect of the on-one do you find stupid? We've already ascertained the 14in frame has a 23.1in top tube - I wonder if that's what you mean by stupid?

Whoops - someone made a boo boo.

Don't you guys know you NEVER critise a design.
it's like calling your mates wife ugly, or his kids thick. Everyone knows it - you don't HAVE to say it out loud. You'll just piss them off!

& fwiw what IS stupid about the design?
the job of the bike frame is to keep the wheels, saddle and stem apart. as long as it does that, I'm happy.

    Ti Piglet

Glad you've postponed an "alu" piglet version. Would be unprofitably mainstream.

The Ti piglet looks ACE! I really wish it's not that good to make me have second thoughts about my ti Pig! Could you add some vertical curve to the seatstays? While it might not be more resilient, it would look like it and thus appeal to more confort-seekers (who i suppose make up the 120-130mm travel Ti HT buyer party).

I also think that an OX piglet would make even better sense and you might get away with building the standard tubing one at all!!!!!
Any changes to the Ti Pig by the way (apart from the dropouts)? Can i sent my frame back 2b "Ragley" engraved????Can i?

  31. Jonny5 - Member

The Ti frame looks fantastic. Though maybe I'm being awkward but given the option I'd prefer a non slider vertical drop out version aswell.

That piglet does look great! Any chance of a 26" xc race bike, or do I need to take the leap to 29 and the TD:1?
