Lovely but, at a price - even as the full time, Nikon using, 'tog I am there is little chance of me really needing - especially at, what, £4800......?
I'll stick with the D700 for now, let's see what happens with the much rumoured D800....Posted 4 months ago # -
Looks lovely, but you could get a nice selection of lenses for 5k

It's a bit of a monster!

Oh ffs...
Why oh why oh why do manufacturers keep on making massive bloody cams with loads of features many photographers will never use?
I don't want an 11fps 'motordrive'. I don't want all that video malarky. I just want a nice, small, tough DSLR with FX sensor. Why can't Nikon make that, instead of these flipping tanks??
This. In dijical form please Nikon.

I wish someone could invent a device that would replace the film backing plate with a digital equivalent for old fashioned film slrs.
My Pentax Super A has lots of life left in it, but 35mm film is pretty much a dead format these days.Posted 4 months ago # -
Here's a pretty cool video shot with it...

I would have their babies if they did.
Nicest cams I've ever used have bin the FM2, Pentax K1000 and my little Vivitar V2000, my first ever SLR what I saved up for ages for.

A bit plasticky and lightweight, but so, so simple to use, with viewfinder indicators of red plus and minus signs for over and underexposure, and a green LED for correct -go! Bung something like a nice Pentax 50mm on there (K-Mount), and it could take stunning pics. Never failed me. Batteries only for light meter (like the FM2 and K1000), mechanical shutter to 1/2000th. Lovely little cam tbh. Still got it, it still works.

They did (the idea lasted longer in medium format though), it was hideously expensive (i.e you could have that d4 above, or upgrade your old slr).

To be honest I do want 11fps, so the D4 is just great - although a little bulky....

Cos this thing will sell, obviously... That's the only reason they are in the business, after all.
And if you weren't so hung up on the FX sensor idea, there'd be loads of great cameras out there that you'd take many great pictues with.
