My Hotmail account was hacked on Tuesday and used to spam my address book contacts- sorry if anyone here suffered because of it.
Two questions-
1- How was this done? Only 1 other person has been told the password, my wife. she is certain that she has not told anyone else and I believe her.
2- I’m trying to re-activate the account and I get this message from Firefox
“This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to sn138w.snt138.mail.live.com, but we can’t confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site’s identity can’t be verified.
What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn’t continue.
Technical Details
I Understand the Risks
If you understand what’s going on, you can tell Firefox to start trusting this site’s identification.
Even if you trust the site, this error could mean that someone is
tampering with your connection.
Don’t add an exception unless you know there’s a good reason why this site doesn’t use trusted identification.”
I’ve googled “sn138w.snt138.mail.live.com” and it seems to be the hotmail log-in page. All seems above board but I’m a bit wary.
I’d appreciate any useful suggestions from well- informed members of a mountainbiking forum- so cheers guys, help me out if you can. Ta, Ambrose
