   I've tried a footpump, a floorpump, a handpump - but can't seem to get past about 75psi. So I use my car electric pump (schraeder valve) and a digital gauge. I'm aiming for 95 - 100psi. Bike has presta valves.

   But, my plastic presta adaptor has now broken - it has a wee rubber "o ring" inside it to seal against the valve body. So, went to my LBS and they supplied brass adaptors. Problem is that the brass adaptor leaks air, won't seal properly against the presta valve and I still can't get past 75 - 80 psi.

   Am I being daft and missing the obvious here ? Anyone got any answers please and do you know where I can get plastic presta adaptors.

   Annoying thing is that it's such a wee item and only costs a £ or two - but can't seem to do without it.

   ?use something as a sealant on the threads: ptfe tape, treacle, threadlock, blu-tack, porridge, ...

   (does a 12v car compressor really run to 100 psi ?)

   - and, come on, try treacle or porridge first !

   when out on the trail i use spit - which works fine for up to 40 psi - not sure that it will hold for 95 - 100 psi though.

   Give it a try.

   yes scaredy - my 12v runs to 300psi if needed - will go with ptfe as I prefer to eat my porridge (cold after it's been in a drawer for a week..........) cheers
