I was following an item on ebay, and the auction ended with no bids. The seller has contacted me as I put an offer to him mid auction.
If I payhim by paypal but we don’t go through ebay do I have any sort of cover/come back if the goods don’t arrive etc?
Sorry if this has been asked before but a search on the paypal website just suggests they cover ebay transactions only.

You’re pretty much on your own with this one.

If you agree a price, maybe ask him to put it back up on ebay for a buy-it-now price – that way he gets feedback and you get covered.

Might be worth offering to give him a little extra to cover the fees he’ll incur (10%).
