Looks hungry, he seems to be wanting to make a meal of the cameraman's tackle

I thought it dragged on a bit so I played it a 4x speed...

Gutted- thought this thread was about a supersonic Owl at 1000 feet per second

I like that a lot. Cheers

The talons opening and closing are like something out of a sci-fi movie! Great link, cheers

Owls are incredible, they even have specific feathers to muffle the sound of their flight to aid stealth. Great clip.

First of - yep, amazing - cheers for putting the link up!

Randomly, this came up on radio the other night. Seems the 'to aid stealth' we all believe is not quite correct... An owl expert said that the owl does, o'course, fly silently but, not to avoid scaring prey...
Given is is normally bloody dark when they get peckish, owls hunt by sound i.e. flight is silent so they can hear their prey as they sure as heck cannot see it.. In my book that makes owls even cooler.

High Speed!?? I'd hate to see it at normal speed then! I didn't realise they were sooo slow!

I went to a falconry exhibition thingy at dunrobin castle when i was up at golspie last week. Had a falcon fly by about 2 inches from my head a couple of times, pretty amazing so it was!

Properly impressive. I'll be thinking of those talons next time I disturb one on a night ride

Stunning! One of the best things I have seen on web for quite some time.
Shame that the clip was cut though, would like to have seen it play out.

Thanks for the clip.
Owls are one of my favourite things about night shifts - get to see quite a few of them.

Fantastic, I'd have liked to have seen it run a little longer, although I suspect it might have been a limitation of the camera memory at that speed. Amazing how the feathers flutter on the leading edges of the wings. Beautiful bird, too.
