   ok .. I need the hive mind again.. this is probably simple but I don't see it just now...

   I need to carry a value from a cell in one sheet of a workbook and place it in a cell of a second sheet ( ok, while adding it to another value on that second sheet )

   simples?

   Yes. Use the "sum" function and just point it at the cell whose number you want to carry over

   Save first sheet.

   Open the second sheet.

   Select your destination cell and type = then click in cell on first sheet. Once the value has transferred over you can do what you want with it.
